Based on James Michener's Pulitzer Prize winning book Tales of the South Pacific, Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic is one of the few musicals to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the Tony Award™ for Best musical. Set on a tropical island during World War II, the musical tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and by their own prejudices. Featuring some of America's best loved songs, the score includes such classics as "Some Enchanted Evening," "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair," "Younger than Springtime," and "A Wonderful Guy." Join us for the spring's most "enchanting evening" of theatre!
From a tragic French Broadway classic to a saucy French knight ready to taunt audiences, Midtown Arts Center's 2013-2014 season truly runs the gamut. As part of its new season, the dinner theater will produce Broadway classics including "Les Miserables" and "South Pacific" along with the Beatles tribute "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!" and the Monty Python lampoon "Spamalot."
